It is hard to find something more British than ‘The Archers’. This ‘contemporary drama in a rural setting’, as described by the BBC, has been going since 1950 and is the world longest running soap opera in any format (according to Wikipedia). Its stories include current news items and tackles various social issues.
This is very good for those of you wanting to improve your listening skills and learn a bit more about Britain, but be warned: this is natural speach and so an advanced listening skill is required.
You can listen to these 12 minute episodes every day at 19.00 GMT for the latest episode; or you can listen to the omnibus every Sunday at 10.00 GMT.
